This municipality receives its name from the large silver mines that were discovered and exploited by the Spaniards in the XVI and XVII centuries, and was first referenced by Sebastián de Belalcázar as he carne through this region in search of El Dorado. We are proud to be part of a new and important economic boom, this time associated with high quality coffee, based on a sustainable model. This small coffee region is blessed with the average temperature range necessary for the slow ripening process of high quality beans, which goes from 17-23 ºC. |
